My Favorite Apps

I have put up a nice list of my favorite apps for you here. I have grouped the apps into the categories you can find in the submenu above. Of course you need an operating system to run the desktop apps, and mine is the well known linux distro Ubuntu. I recently switched to OSX, which is another cup of tea, but a tasty one. Go have a look at the page for my favourite OSX apps.
First of all, I am a big fan of Linux distros. Open source rules. Period. There’s nothing sweeter than just adding repo’s and grabbing goodiez. Yes, I am a user, a poweruser, an addict! I spend a lot of time in a *nix shell, do quite some shell scripting and server maintenance, so to have a desktop on top of it that enables bending and tweaking it to fit my needs is a no-brainer.
UPDATE: like I said I am now into OSX, which offers kinda like the same: a unix shell to hackaway in, some forms of installer functionality (different kinds actually), and a lot of apps that resemble (or are better than) my fav linux apps.
Also, I have to mention that I am always mobile. I have an iPhone for which I created a special iPhone apps page. It rules my world, so I suggest you check it out :)
I am also a programmer, and use Eclipse for development. It’s the best Integrated Development Environment if you ask me, cross platform and open source. It has steady support for Java, PHP, C++, ActionScript, Python, etc etc. It’s plugin based and therefore I have added a special section for my favorite Eclipse plugins.
Anyway, here’s the complete list of my My Favorite Apps’ subsections:
